We know it’s already spring, but we are still reminiscing about the late winter retreat our school took just a couple weeks ago. What a great time of fellowship it was among the students and teachers.
Our winter getaway is a yearly spiritual retreat in the the Southern California mountain town of Big Bear. It’s a special time where students get a chance to build community outside of our school building. They made dinner together, played games and had wonderful team building time, along with a few snowball fights, too. Students also enjoyed our regular Heart Time, but this time outside of the classroom and around a cozy fire instead. We made crafts necklaces and played a rousing game of Family Feud, which had us all laughing and having fun. Of course, our dedicated science teacher Mr. Mark scheduled a fun “field work” project to get us thinking about science in the mountains. One favorite memory was our night walk to look at the beautiful stars. The students also enjoyed sledding and making a snowman in the last bit of snow of the season.
Not only did we take 17 students, we were so blessed to have all of our teachers and staff members there! Also joining us was special guest Randy Gardner, pastor to senior adults at Purpose Church, whom the students adore.
We loved our winter retreat and are already looking forward to our mountain visit next year! Please enjoy the gallery of some of our favorite photos our time together.
