Director’s Note: Welcome Back to School!

Hello friends of New Community Academy,

I hope you’ve had a blessed and restful summertime. This week marks the beginning of the new school year. We are so excited for what’s in store for the students this year as we all learn and grow together. We’re looking forward to many exciting learning opportunities ahead – field trips, art classes, science experiments, Individual Learning Projects, and so many other adventures. We hope you will continue to follow along with us here on our blog to keep up with the latest news and events!

This week, we have 16 students — including 4 brand new students – to start the school year off strong. There is much excitement in the halls here as students crack open their books and use their new school supplies. It’s always such an incredible time of year for us as we build our “new community.”

As the school year kicks off, I also want to take a moment to tell you our wonderful news. We have a new member of the New Community faculty family! This summer, we hired a Language Arts teacher, Mrs. Ann Burdette, who brings many years of teaching experience, a strong academic background, and an adventurous spirit as she joins the NCA staff.

Ann will be teaching our morning Language Arts classes and afternoon post-secondary classes, as well as teaming up with Mr. Mark on directing the student Independent Learning Projects (ILPs). Ann is passionate about helping students learn to enjoy writing, as well as learning how to publish their work. She herself has had her writing published in Odyssey Science Magazine for children. And she speaks 4 languages! In fact, Ann will be teaching an after school Conversational French class using the Rosetta Stone school curriculum. We are so grateful to God for leading us to Ann in the search for our new teacher, and we are so pleased to have her join our family. I hope you all have the opportunity to meet Ann and get a chance to know her as the school year progresses.

As always, I appreciate all of you for your prayers, your support, and your devotion to NCA.

Thanks for following along with our journey. It’s going to be a great year ahead!
